It was the UK premier of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last night, or Harry Potter 6, in multiplex speak.

I am really looking forward to this movie and one of the things I will be watching out for, with interest, is whether Michael Gambon alters his performance now Dumbledore has been outed. I hope not. In fact, his version of the wise wizard headmaster is pretty flamboyant as it is, with a nice line in colourful robes.

Having read the books, it makes sense to me that Dumbledore is gay – was there ever a hint of a Mrs. Dumbledore? – although I’m not sure how serious J.K. Rowling was when she made the remark. You can bet, though, there will be the odd snigger when Dumbledore makes some remark to Harry about using their wands…
