If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I would like to come back as fashion designer and ‘A’ list homo, Tom Ford. The guy is the very essence of cool – he could launch a fragrance made from his own sweat and still sell truck-loads of the stuff.

Tom has been swapping the catwalks for red carpets and has found time in between running his fashion empire to direct a movie. He’ll be unveiling the movie, A Single Man, at the Venice Film Festival on 11 September. The film is an adaptation of a 60′s novel, set in the 60′s, about a day in the life of a gay, English college professor (played by housewives’ favourite, Colin Firth) who’s partner has died suddenly.

I’m sure the set dressing will be as impeccably tailored as Tom’s suits. It stars a couple of this season’s Brit actors: Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Brideshead Revisited) and Nicholas Hoult (Skins). Expect savage reviews that always come whenever someone successful in one field tries to cross over into another.
