Well, the results are in and it’s a big thumbs up for Tom Ford’s A Single Man. The reviews have been fabulous and so too are this weekend’s box office numbers, with the newly released movie taking $216,328 from just nine cinemas – a great start.
Lee Marshall in Screen International wrote:
Fashion designer Tom Ford gets it spectacularly right first time round in his directorial debut.
Variety movie critic, Leslie Felperin, wrote:
Like the speck of sand that seeds a pearl, it’s the tiny fleck of kitsch at the heart of A Single Man that makes it luminous and treasurable, despite its imperfections.
The movie goes on wider release soon, although UK cinemagoers will have to wait until 12 February next year – I reckon a good Valentine’s Day tip.
