I know lots of other gay blogs have pointed out the more than passing resemblance between Zac Efron and Brent Corrigan, and possibly in some parallel universe the controversial adult movie performer is a clean-cut, Hollywood teen idol and the High School Musical star is doing gay porn.

In fact, such a scenario isn’t so far fetched even in this universe what with Brent climbing the slippery Hollywood pole and attempting to become a ‘serious’ actor.

He had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role in this year’s Oscar winning gay movie, Milk, as ‘Telephone Tree #3′, but, still, his name’s in the credits. This plus roles in current festival shower, The Big Gay Musical, a number of gay shorts, and an altar boy in something in the works called Sister Mary.

But by far Corrigan’s biggest bid for legit actordom so far is co-starring with Dante’s Cove actor Charlie David in about-to-shoot gay movie, Judas Kiss. Storyline has something to do with travelling back in time to your younger days to influence your future – sounds vaguely similar to new TV show, Being Erica. I’m guessing Brent will play Charlie David’s character as his younger self.

So things are definitely on the up for the 23-year-old porn star from Idaho – to think it all started with the role of ‘Stan the Merman’ in Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild. I wonder how long until Brent will be acting under his real name, Sean Lockhart, in a bid to distance himself from his gay porn past.

Which brings us to Zac. He might be getting praise for his performance in freshly released movie, Me and Orson Welles, but he’s still a long way from shaking off his cheesy High School Musical tag – a difficult one for any young actor – and if a run of box-office flops follows and a grown-up film career never happens, maybe those gay porn studios will come a calling. At which point people will say “doesn’t that gay porn actor look a lot like movie star Sean Lockhart?”
