Julianne Moore won a Teddy yesterday… no, she wasn’t hooking rubber ducks at her local fairground; rather she won the Berlin Film Fest’s ‘best gay movie’ prize.
The most gay-friendly actress in Hollywood (A Single Man, The Hours, Far From Heaven) stars with Annette Benning as a lesbian couple in new movie, The Kids Are All Right.
The gay couple live with their two teenage children and the family’s happy home life is rocked and the women’s relationship tested when the teens decide to seek out their sperm donor father.
This gentle comedy written and directed by Lisa Cholodenko (The L Word) has been building serious momentum and word-of-mouth since becoming a breakout hit at Sundance. Focus Features shelled out a massive $4.8 million for US distribution rights (the biggest sale at the festival) for this gay themed movie.
The Kids Are Alright will be aiming to add some Summer warmth and chuckles when it hits cinemas on 7 July.
On a completely non-gay movie related topic, but sticking with teddy bears, BBC’s comedy site has a hilarious but heartbreaking series of clips starring Misery Bear. Will things ever go right for this unlucky bear?
