It might have cost less than the postage stamp budget on the Harry Potter movies, have zero CGI monsters and be lacking a catchy title, but Daniel Radcliffe’s latest project deserves an equal audience.

The 20-year-old star (who’s somehow avoided the current vogue for abbreviating celebrity names) has filmed a public service announcement film for LGBTQ charity, The Trevor Project.

The U.S. based organisation carries out crisis intervention and suicide prevention work for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens. The film will raise awareness of the issue and aim to prevent young people taking their own lives.

D-Rad dropped into The Trevor Project’s Wall Street head office on Friday. From there they run a 24-hour helpline for LGBTQ youth and the actor was given a tour of the call centre.

J.K. Rowling’s creation seems to be doing more for the gay community than most politicians: first she outs Dumbledore and now this. It would be great if one of the Hogwarts’ students were shown struggling with their sexuality; I mean this is the school were Robert Pattinson studied – I’m sure he got a few boys’ pulses racing.
