Some gay films you can sum up with a snappy tagline; others not so much. This doesn’t make The Adults in the Room less interesting, just complex.

Andy Blubaugh’s movie (screening Sunday, May 2 at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) is a deeply personal project for him. As a high school teenager he embarked on an illicit affair with a seductive man twice his age and now at 30-years-old himself, Andy has decided to examine the past with an adult perspective.

In a film that blends filmed interviews, making-of footage and dramatision, Andy explores how his criminal relationship at age 15 has influenced him ever since, as both a lover and a teacher. Andy approaches what is usually a black and white issue with an open mind and compares his own, personal, first-hand experiences with the views of professionals including social workers and other teachers.

The Adults in the Room will be touring other gay and lesbian film festivals and is currently asking for help to make a final, HD cut.
