London’s Metro newspaper has a bitchy interview with Rupert Everett in which their journo asks the questions that she knows Rupes won’t want to be asked and then gets annoyed because he doesn’t want to answer them. It seems there’s only two things we ever want to know about Everett: is Madonna still on speed dial and has he had ‘work done?’
Of course Everett’s oft-quoted belief that coming out excluded him from the Hollywood ‘A’ list is covered in the article. I wonder if sexy actor Matthew Montgomery has the same mixed feelings – if Hollywood’s pink glass ceiling didn’t exist he would surely have crossed over into the mainstream. As it is, we can enjoy him in a growing list of popular gay indie movies, including his latest film, Pornography: A Thriller. And at next month’s Philadelphia QFest Matt will get some recognition with the 2010 Artistic Achievement Award.
Finally, James Franco does little to dispel the ‘is he/isn’t he’ gay rumours by popping up at L.A.’s Gay Pride with a queer artist called Kalup Linzy and acts all aloof when World of Wonder catches a sneaky video interview with the pair.
